The Rev. Amanda Aikman has served churches in Cleveland, OH and in Marysville, Port Angeles, and Kirkland, WA. Currently, she is Consulting Minister at Skagit UU Fellowship in Mount Vernon, WA.
Amanda is a Spiritual Director (also known as Spiritual Companion) with a practice based at Shoreline UU Church, where she is Minister Associated, and a Joyfulness Consultant, helping individuals and groups to add joy to their everyday lives through simple games and practices. She is the author of Full-Spectrum Joyfulness: Easy-to-Remember Games, Songs and Practices for Creating More Joy in Your Everyday Life (Spirit of Life Publishing).
She has won many national sermon contests, including a Templeton competition for works on science and religion, and the prestigious Borden sermon contest. A playwright and the founder of BLUUBIRD Theater Company, a UU drama ministry, Amanda has had 14 short plays produced since 2002.
Before entering the ministry in 1993, Amanda worked in publishing and advertising in New York City, and in community action in Roanoke, Virginia. Her enthusiasms include, but are not limited to, roller-skating, science fiction, stand-up paddle surfing, rowing, NIA dance, the novels of Charles Dickens, The Seattle Storm WNBA team, and the movies of Christopher Guest.
